Functions of the article
Indefinite article
 1. Classifying function –для обозначения
объекта принадлежащего к классу или
группе объектов
 2.General function – идея единства и
класса объединены, но нет ссылки на
конкретные вещи
 3. Numerical function
Definite article
 1. Specifying function –выделение объекта из
группы объектов того же рода
Осуществляется с помощью:
A. Restrictive attribute(индивидуализирующего
определения)
B. The presiding context(от предыдущего
контекста)
C. The situation(от ситуации)
D. The meaning of the noun(значения
существительного)
 2. Generic function(относит существительное
ко всему классу объектов того же рода)
Use articles with Nouns Modified by
Certain Adjectives, Pronouns and
Numerals
 Few – мало
 A Few- несколько
 The few – те немногие(которые)
He left after a few moments.
 Litеle- мало
 A little – некоторое количество
 The little – то небольшое количество
Don’t waste the little time that you have.
 Two –два
 The two - оба, те два
 The second –второй
 A second –another, one more
He maid a second, a third, a forth expiriment
 A second time –once more
 Another –какой либо другой, еще один.
 The another –определенный другой
 I’ll take the another one.
Last, the Last
 Nouns modified by the adjective last are
always used with the definite article
except in the expressions
 last month
 last year
 last week
 last summer(winter)
Next, the Next
 Next –means будущий when referring
to the time -next month
 The next –means -следующий- the next
room
 Next time – в следующий раз
