College Soccer in the USA
In the USA, some students go to college to
play soccer. During the week, they study their
academic subjects in the morning, and, in the
afternoon, they practise their soccer skills.
Then, in the evening, they do homework!
At the weekend, college soccer players never
study because there are important games.
They play in the afternoon, but they prepare
in the morning, and sometimes they travel
thousands of kilometres to games at other
colleges.
American colleges don’t give players money,
but their lessons are often free.
College soccer is very popular in the USA.
There are about 1,500 women’s soccer teams
and 1,400 men’s teams, and, at some colleges,
5,000 people come to watch every match.
That’s a lot!
